The Cavalry Has Arrived

Mom + Dad are in town – I am alone no more!!! I am saved! Thank the stars!!!
I survived the six weeks alone with my newborn!!! For those of you who are new to this blog, Jeff has been gone on location for work since Langdon’s been 2 1/2 weeks old. In the beginning I was running on adrenaline alone, thinking I could get everything done. Towards the end I was feeling so burnt out + done. DONE. An empty vessel robotically washing bottles, feeding, changing diapers, comforting – on no sleep. I was like Frodo.
I just couldn’t anymore. It’s like my body knew my parents were on their way + it was shutting down.
Except, Frodo was surrounded by other Hobbits. I had no Hobbits. Well, no I stand corrected. I did have Hobbits – thankfully I had my family on the North Shore where I would get love + support!!! Thank you Deb, Tom + boys for being there for me during this time + doting on Langdon endlessly!!!
I tip my hat off + salute single moms! They deserve a medal, a bouquet of roses every day + to be showered with cotton candy. They are the strongest, most resilient people in all the world + I admire them so much!!! It is the hardest job in the whole world – caring for babies is all consuming!
Here comes mom arriving at YVR!!! So excited to see Langdon – she hasn’t seen her grandson since he was a week old!
And here comes grandpa!!! Welcome back to the beautiful shores of Vancouver!!! It’s been awhile! Aloha!!!
Langdon has been talking up a storm lately! He was singing + chatting while we waited for grandma + grandpa! I call him my Wolf Cub because of some of the sounds he makes! Awoooo!!!!
After the arrival of my parents, we immediately went out for delicious Chinese food – it’s so plentiful + crazy delicious in Vancouver!!!
It’s been so amazing having mom feed, change + help me with Langdon. An extra pair of hands are golden!!! Here she is settling him down to sleepy time.
We’ve been galivanting around town here + there. The other day we went out for Indian food at Rangoli’s. Shaka!!!!! To da max, brah! For reals!!!! As you can see my family feels very intensely about a lot of things. We are a passionate peoples.
I usually wear Langdon because everywhere we’ve been has been tiny with limited seating. He is a very good boy.
Yum!!! Good eats!!! So much nice tasty foods! So berry berry happy time! Engrish!
Developmentally, Langdon has been changing so rapidly! He is loving his activity center + is grabbing at things, fascinated with motion + color!
Mirrors have been entrancing him. This picture cracks me up of Langdon looking at himself during bath time with a very satisfied facial expression. He is going to hate me for posting this picture. Also, his classic hairline + Dr. Seuss cowlick in this pic are too adorbs. He has outgrown the bathroom sink + has graduated to his big boy bath!
Laughs, squeals + big smiles are big around here!!!
And so are chubby cheeks!!! I just want to pinch them + snoozzle up against them 24-7!!!
10 weeks old!!! Lang Lang is such a big boy already – lookit him! Time is flying by!!!
Dad is out working hard + playing hard out in Alberta on Hell on Wheels. Here’s Jeff with the awesome cast enjoying some down time – it’s like a rugged facial hair bonanza – my kind of party!
It’s been truly great having my mom + dad around. I miss them so much being up here in Canada! I’m so glad they’ve been able to spend this time with Langdon! Thanks for everything you’ve done for me mom + dad! You are the best parents EVER!!!!!!!
I don’t think I’ve seen you with your hair up before – it looks great! Glad to hear you survived your six weeks alone – I realized today I hadn’t heard from you in a while and wondered… 🙂
Aw, thanks Michelle! I know I HATE wearing my hair up! I usually never wear it up but now that Langdon’s been clutching at things I’ve got to wear the updo!!! I’ll be in Alberta soooooon!!!!
