Happy Birthday, 80!!!!/Oh, Wait – What?!

Happy Birthday Adi-chan!!!! Today is the birthday of one of my best gal-pals from high school!!! Oh, what times we’ve had!
I was with her last weekend + I asked, “How old are we turning this year, Adi? (we are about a month apart)”. She replied, “We’re turning 36.”. !!!!!!! “Huh?! I did not get the memo! I thought we were turning 35 this year!” I exclaimed. “Shelli, we were born in 1976! We’re turning 36!!!!” Adi soberly stated. Oh my lord. I’ve been telling people that I’m 34 for as long as I can remember.
In commemoration of years past, here’s Adi + I in high school on my birthday.
How great is that bleach blonde pixie cut?! And how poor is the quality of the photo development?! True vintage!
Here’s a really embarrassing photo from an era that we would both probably like to forget. Yikes!!! What is with those boots?! Those coats?! That pose??!! I think back then we both thought we looked pretty bad ass. Ladies of the night. Um, maybe not “that” kind of lady.
Us at sunset in Joshua Tree. Adi was my ultimate road dog. We’ve done road trips to Vancouver, New Mexico, countless trips to San Francisco. Sigh. We were free as birds.
Even Japan! We got into a lot of shenanigans in Japan. My mom was embarrassed of us about 93% of that trip.
But this is my all time favorite picture that I have of the two of us.There are many more pictures in the archive, but most are not as appropriate ifyouknowhatimean. I’m so glad that I have Adi. There are so many memories that we share + we’ve been friends during countless, huge milestones in our lives. Plus, I’m so elated to announce that this is her first birthday as a new mommy!!!!!! Happy birthday,
Adi! I feel like our real adventures have just begun!!!!
Thanks for the lovely post, Shells! It was great to see you last weekend and I look forward to taking a hike with you and Solly (in his warm + fuzzy Bob stroller, thanks to Auntie Shelli) real soon! Much love!
