DIY Natural Soothing Postpartum Pads

Healing aid for postpartum when your lady parts have gone through the ringer! TMI!!! Here’s a visual step-by-step of how to make them!
Sorry male reader kinfolk, you may want to skip this post. Or better yet, forward it to your lady loved ones – because you care + you’re that kind of guy!
One of my best friends told me that after giving birth, one of the best things the hospital gave her were frozen cold pack maxi pad liner things. When she ran out she was real sadsies – so I did some research online + found these DIY soothing pads on Passionate Homemaking. From what I heard from mommies all around, your cha-cha is going to need some relief + I’m going to have these pads on the ready for when I’m discharged + my nether regions are on fiyah! I’m going to try whatever it takes to make my postpartum experience easier!
1) Witch Hazel (natural astringent)
2) Pure Aloe Vera (soothing)
3) Lavender Oil (natural astringent)
All purchased at Finlandia Natural Care Pharmacy here in Vancouver or Whole Foods.
4) Measuring + Mixing
5) Spray Bottle
6) Tablespoon
7) Big ol’ honkin Overnight Maxi Pads (I made 24!)
8) Aluminum Foil (not pictured)
9) Baking Tray (not pictured)
Add 3 drops of lavender oil. Try to ignore the weather beaten peasant hand with the horrible cuticles.
Pour into spray bottle + give it a shake!
Unfold each pad on a baking tray, line ’em up + spray them until they’re damp, but not soaked.
Pre-rip a stack of aluminum foil + wrap up!
Ta-daaaa!!! Pop them in the freezer for extra soothing cooling effect! They’re like foil wrapped vagina Rx burritos! Hmmm, that doesn’t sound right.
My advice is have all your supplies lined up + ready. Then you can manufacture these pads assembly line style. It’s tedious work, so I watched Louis C.K.’s Live at the Beacon Theater on Netflix. I chortled heartily + happily away as I worked. If Louis C.K. only knew that some girl out there was making ginormous, soothing maxi pads while watching his show…
I’m hoping these will give me some comfort after the baby is here! A full review to come!
That cracked me up! Love the ideas even though I am not and never will be preggers!!
Thanks Dawn!!! Trying to attempt a laugh on a subject that you don’t really associate with humor!
Too funny! DIY is taken to a whole new level …. way to go on the preparations Shelli!
All my preparations will probably go out the window once the baby gets here! Then it’ll be a whirlwind of chaos!!! Haha!!! But whatever comfort I can get – I’m going to take it!
Ha hope Jeff won’t mistake them as something frozen to eat. that would be hysterical!!!
