Mini Day Trips Around Vancouver

The week my mom was visiting from Los Angeles, we had a lot of mini sightseeing adventures. Moms get tired + bored easy, so we always kept it short!
I haven’t really been feeling very bloggy lately because:
a) my mom has since returned to Los Angeles + me is sad.
b) my whole family lives in Los Angeles + I’m trapped in Canada because I can’t cross the border until my immigration paperwork is finalized which could take FOREVAH because immigration agents are on strike, causing MAYJAH delays.
c) I miss the prairies in Alberta
d) Vancouver is gloomy gloomy gloomster
When my mom arrived in the Great White North, she brought the sun with her. And it was SENSATIONAL!!!!
Canadians be like:
So moms + I took it to the limit + made for darned sure I got me some vitamin D before she left. And I made sure we got her some gooey poutine, which she requests every time she visits.
I drove her up toward West Vancouver + we walked alongside the ocean.
A view of Lion’s Gate bridge which leads you from downtown Vancouver up into North + West Vancouver. The forest to the right of the bridge is famous Stanley Park.
Pretty much the best kid’s park of all time + within the entire universe is in West Vancouver. Water features, a pirate ship, slides, swings, climbing + a xylophone to play with!!!
The next day we went to go check out Spanish Banks near the University of British Columbia. Get out your magnifying glass – I took these pictures with my mom’s camera + she emailed them to me mini style. It’s like How’s It Going Eh The Early Years, when I used to post teensy pics!
Colorful umbrellas.
Many Vancouver beaches have rows of logs laid upon the sand. They’re kind of like Canuck sunbather comfort blankets because everyone sets up their spot in front of a log. So Canadian – no one strays from the logs. If this was an American beach, bodies would be littered all over the sand, helter skelter!
Mom at the concession stand grabbing a cup of joe. They had sweet potato fries! POSH!!!
When my mom visits Vancouver, we like to do a Japanese dinner for my Canadian family. Here she is preparing yummy tempura.
The day before my mom left, Jeff + I drove her up to Squamish which is an hour north of Vancouver.
Here are the two picking blackberries. This pair love to forage together!!!
Beautiful. You can feel fall in the air.
Mother + daughter picture. AAAACK!!!! Flyaway grey hair!!! For the love of god!!! Not to mention my hunchback posture! Elegant!
Well, when my mom left she took the sun with her. It rained for days after she left. I was one melancholy lump. I’m glad my mom came just as we were coming back from Alberta because Vancouver has been a little bit of a culture shock. I miss my dad + sister + wish they could have come up too. One day we’ll all be together again!!! Thanks for spoiling me for a week mom, I loved every minute of it!
Your mom is pretty, and you make a nice hunchback:P
Hahaha!!!! Thanks to both!
howz it goin eh?
Oooh, blackberries and beaches with logs! I miss the west coast!
I’m missing Alberta a lot, but I think if I moved out there I might go insane if I didn’t have the ocean!

Sun, mum and poutine! Awesome 🙂
A winning combo for sure!!!
your mom looks youthful and blinged out! 😛
Haha!!!! You know it! My mom LOVES bling!!! MORE SPARKLY THINGS!!!!
Vancouver’s not so bad. You’ve got the water out here, at least! I missed blackberry picking AGAIN, for like the 20th year in a row. ~M.
I know, I know!!! But it’s SO WET!!!!!!!!! I’m a desert girl!
My secret to surviving the rain is to get a fun pair of rain boots. They make splashing around in the puddles so much more enjoyable. 🙂
Hmmmmm, I feel a shopping trip coming on!!! Hint hint!
I’m picking up what you’re dropping! 😉
