No 5k for Me – Aka I’m a Total Genius

Uuuuuuh, well this is certainly embarrassing. Looks like I’m not going to run my first 5k tomorrow…
Okay so here’s the story. I drove downtown to go pick up my race package. My name was not on the list. Anywhere. Whaaaaaaaaat.
The ladies at the store asked me if I ever got a confirmation email.
Oh, here’s my iPhone, let’s see………no.
The ladies at the store asked me if I had a record of being charged for it. Ummmmmm lemme think, I’ll look online at my bank statement.
Let’s see…let’s see….scrolling….scrolling….uhm…..no. The ladies at the store looked really embarrassed for me as I walked away feeling totally confused + sad/angry/frustrated/disappointed.
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED????? I have NO idea! I swear on my cat that I filled out the race registration like over a month ago + I had my debit card in my hand + punched those little numbers on my little computer keyboard + pressed enter! No I didn’t get a confirmation email, but I didn’t think of it at the time! And yes I kept wondering why I wasn’t getting email updates + I thought to myself, “Well! Now this is VERY inefficient of them! Harumph, harumph!!!”. Duh!!!!!
This is classic Shelli. Yes, I’m going to speak in the third person! A major faux pas! Epic fail! Shelli, you did it again! Bravo!!!! This kind of stuff happens to me all the time. Maybe it’s because I’m too spazzy + maybe I possibly didn’t hit the right button when I thought I hit the right button + then I shut down my computer??? It’s totally possible.
OMIGOD I’M SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!! I was all pumped to run my first 5k + I was all bragging about it when I thought I had signed up!!!!
Sigh. Oh well. I’m still training…
That’s Matthew McConaughey training. You’re welcome.
I’ve been running for 7 weeks + I can run consistently now without slowing down or walking. So I’m going to keep going + increase my mileage little by little every week.
Lesson learned. Pay attention, Shelli. For gods sake, woman! Pull yourself together! There’s always next time!
TOTALLY!!!!! I actually was going to post that picture, but it made my heart hurt!!!! So cute! But so sad!
Pobrecita!
😦
Oh my god! You have shown your human side:))) Mistakes happen, but this time you’re in shape because of it!! Boo hoo for your though … it would have been fun to participate. Make Jeff go on a 5 k with you tomorrow and then celebrate afterwards!
xxoo
Deb, you’re always so positive! Yes, true – at least I’m getting in shape!!!
You had a great work out so do not fret. May be it is not right time for yoy to compete this 5K..
Next time you will be well prepared. Looked the bright side. We are very proud of you even when you did not know what you were suppose to prepare for this entry. Congratulation. Celebrate!,
Love you,
Mommy,
Mom! Great engrish!!!! Thanks my cheering squad!
Maybe it wasn’t about the race in the first case, maybe it was about the training, the commitment and the desire to do something that excited you. Besides, you’ll be ready to run the 10k, you know, when the time comes around.
Woohoo!!! Thanks!!!! So true!!! Everything happens for a reason! I’m actually looking into signing up for a 10k this summer – but this time I’ll make sure I’m REALLY, TRULY signed up for it!
Just as a security measure, maybe make a check list. 😉
I know, right?! Next time I’ll be SUPER prepared!!!!
Yo, Nan, maybe it was karma ur not running THIS
5K, but the next 1… keep on training and gut it UP!!!!!
ok, hey 2 Jeff, and give him a shout out about ole
Jeffrey Kimball,…LOL, take care, Luv U, Dads
Yeah, I think I was meant to sit this one out for some reason! Yup, I’m going to keep running + sign up for another race soon!!!
Oh, no. That is very sucky. But you have still inspired me to sign up for my first 5K! June 1st, gives me plenty of time to train, and I have a ways to go but I’m looking forward to the challenge. 🙂 xo
REALLY?! AWESOOOOOOME!!!! I love it! You are going to Hulk Smash your first 5k!!!
Now you have to start training for a 10K girl! Are you and Jeff going to be here for Canada Day, they have a great fun run that morning that I will do with you, 8K!
Woohoo!!! Yes I will be in Alberta for Canada Day! I’ll do the 8k with you! Yay running!!!
