Hallway Makeover!

HALLWAY MAKEOVER!!! Yeeeeah!!! Get excited!!!
It has been quite a while since I’ve posted any updates on our little rental house. That’s because it’s a continuous on-going process (hell) that consumes our entire beings.
So first, I’d like to show off the Hallway Makeover Edition to the program!!!! Because hallways are small!!! And easy to manipulate!!!! Your teeny little hallway need not be a boring, empty slate!!! Fill it with stuff + more stuff! Hooray for stuff!!!! I like exclamation points!!!!!!
When we moved in, our hallway was a lovely shade of peach + streaky navy ceiling with a bare light bulb!!! Check it out. Oh, the ambiance!!!!
I was like, “H to the NO!!!!”. Major bummer. Here is a picture of Jeff in the middle of the night furiously painting the bad, bad peach away. Erase all peachiness from this house!!!! I decree visual abominations banished!!!!!
I saw this picture of nursery bookshelves from Pinterest + it gave me inspiration! Between the two of us, we have massive, massive amounts of books. I thought, why not use the narrow wall space leading down the hallway to display some of our more graphic coffee table books?
The image was from Ana White, so I promptly googled her + her website is amazing! She is super cute, REALLY handy + her instructional videos are well done.
Here is a link to her page for the “Ten Dollar Ledge”. And boy were we excited when we discovered there was an accompanying video:
Jeff sort of did his own version of the ledge with found wood from Habitat for Humanity Restore finds.
Don’t ask me how he did it because he was drilling things + gluing things + sawing things….
My advice is watch Ana White’s instructions!!! It’s all there!
White walls, bookshelves, pictures + a $15 lighting fixture from Home Depot!
I love coming around the corner + seeing a colorful display of books! And the great thing is you can always change your display whenever you want! Nice work, Jeff my man! This project cost us $11, y’all!!! Git ‘er done!!!!!

Yeah dad – thanks for your awesome collection of amazing books from when you were an art student! They obviously left a huge impact on me!!!! XOXOXO
So if I ever come to visit you, and I go to the bathroom and don’t come back, you’ll probably find me sitting on the floor of the hallway with a book in hand… 🙂
Yup!!!! You’ll love all of the books here!!!

Solomon would like to come over and pull all of the books off the bottom 2 rungs of your shelves (he’s only 2′-7″, so that’s as tall as he can reach!) Looks great Shells! I love that your the brains and Jeff is the brawn!
Haha!!!! YES!!!! Luckily Jeff is super crazy handy! Awwww, Solomon is getting so BIG!!!!!

Yeah! We weren’t sure where it would go in the house since it’s so big – but it found it’s perfect place! Thanks for the donation Debbie!!!!
Great idea guys and well executed. Hallways are normally so boring.
Thanks!!! We have a small place, so why not utilize as much space as possible!
