Una Noche Loca

Saturday was going off for Jeff + I.  Whatta day.  I’m still recovering from Saturday.

We started our day driving to Little Tokyo for much needed haircuts from our precious Kayo.

She really is a hair scientist.  Every time Jeff’s had to get a haircut by anyone else, I’m always thoroughly disappointed.  I’m going to miss her so much when we’re in Canada – I truly rely on her so much.

After our haircuts + some Little Tokyo specific errands, we stopped by MOCA on Central Ave.  Their special exhibit was, “Ends of the Earth – Land Art to 1974”.

We enjoyed the exhibit, but only had an hour to zip through the entire museum, unfortunately.  Jeff LOVED Cai Guo-Qiang’s “Crop Circles” installation.

Outside of MOCA, Cai Guo-Qiang’s “Mystery Circle” image was created by a series of gunpowder explosions.

Watch the video below to see the explosions!  The video starts out a little slow, but you MUST keep watching until the end for the craziness happening!  So much exploding!  I would’ve been freaking out if I were in the audience!!!!

Jeff’s attire was exceptional that day.  I required sunglasses just to look at him.

ARGH!  MY EYES!!!  THEY BURN!  Check this out!  When Jeff walked past this cute little granny, I swear she took one look at his outfit, she just about fell over from shock!  Yo, even granny knows!!!!

After Little Tokyo, it was on to my dear friend Annie’s house.  Here she is showing me her tree house!  So lucky!  Magical!

As a “Going Away” celebration, Annie whisked Jeff + I away to “Los Candiles Nightclub” to completely wow us.

Annie prepped me by describing it as a bar/entertainment nightclub.  The entertainment being female impersonators lip syncing + dancing.  OMG.  I was about to lose my marbles!!!!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!  I was screaming + clapping my hands like a mad woman!

Shakira impersonator.

Facial expression = FIERCE!!!

I’m not sure of who this chanteuse is supposed to be, but she looked gooorrrgeous!

Lookit all that rhinestone!!!  FIERCE!!!!

Ricky Martin impersonator!!!!  At this point I was completely losing my mind!  I was shrieking + singing along at the top of my lungs!  “She’s into superstition, black cats + voodoo dolls….” – that’s a line from his hit song, “La Vida Loca” if you didn’t already know, duh!

Here’s my other dear friend Sarah + her boyfriend John having a grand ball of a time.

Um, Selena!!!!!!!

Go on, Selena!!!!  “Amor Prohibido!!!!”  TRIPLE FIERCE!!!

Ok, I don’t remember who this gal was impersonating, but she was like a magical pegasus!!!  Mira!!!!

There were more unbelievable performances in store, but the pictures aren’t very appropriate for public viewing.  You’ll just have to get me to show you the pics on my laptop.  All I can say is the pictures involve this dude, George:

You’ll REALLY want to see these pictures!  You can’t even imagine!  It was so amazing, because the place was PACKED by the end of the night!  Most of the audience consisted of couples, + everyone was just there to have a really fantastical time!

Here’s Annie dancing + a gal in a veil who was having her bachelorette party at Los Candiles.

Me + my ladies!!!!  I’m going to miss them sooooo much!!!

Annie’s so tall she literally has to stoop to hug me.  Haha!  Oh, Los Candiles, thank you for one of the most memorable nights in my 36 years on this earth!  I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to find it’s equivalent in Calgary or Vancouver.  I’m going to have to make pilgrimages when I’m in Los Angeles for visits – I’m starting to realize how much I’m going to miss Los Angeles in all it’s wacky, zany ways!!!!
