Moab – Part 1

Je m’excuse for the two week absence!!!! I’ve been away at work in Moab, Utah + they don’t believe in WiFi in the desert. Just kidding!!!!
No, but seriously folks, the Super 8 in Moab has THE SLOWEST WiFi. So don’t bother bringing your laptops. I’m saving you from lugging it all the way to Utah, you’ll thank me later.
The morning after Memorial Day, I awoke at 3am to ready myself for a flight out of LAX. Next, was a layover in Pheonix, AZ. Landed in Grand Junction, CO + from there I embarked on a 2 hour van ride to my final destination of Moab. Here’s a photo from the bus ride:
I was silently freaking out, y’all. Silently because I didn’t want to scare the driver navigating the windy roads, thus causing a horrible accident. I love the desert. I’m a desert rat. I love it so much. If the van ride was a preview for what was to come, I couldn’t wait!!!!!
When I arrived at the Super 8, it was crazy hot!!! I immediately got out of my oppressive jeans + into a muumuu. Yes, I brought my muumuus to Utah!!! Muumuus for life!!!!
I walked 1.7 miles to the costume department situated in “downtown” Moab to say hello to my friends (no vehicle). Yo, it felt like the longest 1.7 miles I’ve ever walked in my life!
It was dusty + dry as a bone. Note: ALWAYS carry water with you in the desert!!!! Even if you know you’re going to arrive at a destination that has copious amounts of water! Like, even if you knew you were just about to arrive on the set of “Waterworld”, you should STILL have water on your person!!!
Anyways, as I rambled along waterless, people in their cars were suspiciously looking at me thinking, “Where did that random Hawaiian girl come from, + why is she walking alone? More importantly, why is she walking???”.
Moab, thank you for welcoming me with your blue canoe of serenity.
And that’s all she wrote for now. This is just a teaser. I have to get my brain back on blog mode + it’s just quite not there yet. Stay tuned for more Moab adventures in the next chapter!!!
I was hoping for a photo of YOU in your muumuu…unless the side effect of walking 1.7 miles in the desert with no water is turning into Homer Simpson?! 🙂
If you look at any of my old Hawaii posts, you’ll see some major muumuu time!!! I definitely feel like a happy, waddling Homer when I put on a muumuu!!!
I love that you have a muumuu. I do as well , but Im not wearing it in Scotland. Its too cold, rainy and windy here!, and its summer! We are in the most opposite places. There flooding in England and they say that its still a drought…Don’t gorget your water,we have extra just for you. Xoxo
When not at work, you’ll ALWAYS find me in a muumuu!!!! Miss ya!!! Hope you’re having a GRAND time!!!
