Handy-Dandy Sites About Canadian Immigration

Immigrating to Canada from the United States can make you feel so very alooooooone. Like no one has ever done it before in the history of the earth.
Well, hopeful future Canucks – here are some nifty websites that are really helpful when you have a million + a half questions, uncertainties + paranoid anxious moments that deter you from sleeping at night because you feel like you may have missed a deadline or will get turned away at the border. Yes, I am fully aware of my run-on sentence, because sometimes it’s the best form of expression. Especially if you are a moderately neurotic person.
Basically, Canada + the United States try to make it as confusing + jumbly as possible for us wretched souls to figure out. I mean, c’mon guys we’re pretty much the same country! JUST KIDDING!!! No, I get it with all the immigration fraud. Damn you, charlatans!!! Your lies + tales of deceit tear away at the pure fibers of our loving quilts!!!!!! Have mercy!!!!!!!!!!!!
MERCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem, you’ll find bits + pieces of information through the web, others’ experiences + from the consulates as you try to fit it all together to makes sense. Your whole universe becomes encompassed with trying to crack the code to where you think you’ll find an easy answer. And there’s no one source. It’s maddening + you start feeling like John Nash – “I’m trapped in my own miiiiiiind!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.
Or like all the immigration information is spoken + written in Navajo + you’re like Nicholas Cage. You need your Wind Talker, dammit!!!! Yá’át’ééh!!!!!
“Should I apply inland or outland + what the hell does that mean, anyways?”. “We haven’t turned in the application yet, have my Medical Exam results expired again?”. “Tell me, am I going completely bonkers, or just slightly????”. These are some questions that may come up. Here is a one-stop shop of links:
- Citizen + Immigration Canada site. The Big Mama of all the Immigration Websites. It’s a government website, so all the information here is legit.
- FBI Background Check page. If you’re immigrating to Canada, the FBI must do a background check to make sure that you’re not an arsonist, flasher or any other type of scallywag, just dying to sully the fine luster that is the Great White North
- Road to Canada. A FANTASTIC site. REAL answers from other REAL sufferers who’ve had experience in the immigration game!!! There’s great tips + suggestions for any + all type of questions you might have. It’s a forum, so register + your inquiries shall be answered. This site has given me lots of ideas that are swimming around in my brain right now. Like happy Sea Monkeys.
- US2Canada – another helpful ally in your quest for that wily Canadian Permanent Resident Card.
Check out these resources – your cup shall overfloweth with knowledge. You shall feel the power of a hundred lions! I hope. Go forth, valiant soldiers! Fight on!!!!

Hi Shelli,
stop by now and then to check to see if there is hopeful news regarding immigration status…we put our application in March 2013 and are anxiously waiting for positive feedback from CIC, but with the strike…..sigh….boohoowaaaaahhhh!!! it is excruciating and the wait sometimes kills me not to mention that I hate where I work!!! Anyway, how is your process going? Is it killing you like it is me? Or did everything go smooth as silk? Anyway, hope for the best for all of us familyclass immigrants 🙂
Hi!!! Glad you stopped by!!! Did you apply inland or outland? IMMIGRATION WAITS SUCK!!! We turned ours in May 2013…..I just called CIC + they told me that they are processing inland applications from OCTOBER 2012 right now!!! 2012???!!!! I WAS SO PISSED!!!!!!! It’s totally killing me!!! Well, keep me updated + keep coming by the blog!!! Good luck to you as well!!!
Hi Shelli,
We applied outland 😦 because the wait time seemed shorter plus just in case something went wrong (you know Murphy’s Law is always out to get me) with inland there is no appeal, with outland you can appeal, we always want to prepare for the worst. I see my husband every other week :,-(
And now with the strike who knows how long this will take….sigh….
We applied inland because then I can legally live in Canada – but I can’t leave until the whole process is over!!! I’m trapped here!!! Yes, let’s stick together! Hopefully the strike will end soon!!!!
I look for info on strike etc on this forum:

It helps to know others are suffering along with us 😛 and helps to pass the time reading about other people’s wait times, makes me hopeful that my COPR will come soon too. I look forward to every other weekend but then it makes the rest of my time more miserable. 😦
Thanks for the link!!! HANG IN THERE!!!!
